#BuySingLit Festival: Japan As a Literary Setting Discussion

Description
Japan has long been a place that sparks curiosity and piques the interest of creatives and writers alike. All three authors, Daryl Yam, Clarissa Goenawan and Wesley Leon Aroozoo have this in common. Through their works, “Kappa Quartet”, “Rainbirds” and “I Want To Go Home”, they explore, and write about how this country-specific backdrop, Japan, creates the perfect setting for the narratives in their literary world. Come join us, and hear what the authors have to say, and at the same time, bring your questions for them too.

Clarissa Goenawan
Clarissa Goenawan is an Indonesian-born Singaporean writer. Her award-winning short fiction has appeared in literary magazines and anthologies in Singapore, Australia, the UK, and the US. Rainbirds is her first novel.

Wesley Leon Aroozoo
Wesley is a lecturer from LASALLE College of the Arts and a filmmaker with 13 Little Pictures. His work 'I Want to Go Home' is both a dual-language novel and feature documentary. The 2nd edition of the novel published by Math Paper Press is now available at Books Kinokuniya Japan.

Daryl Qilin Yam
Daryl Qilin Yam is a Singaporean writer and editor of prose and poetry. He is also an arts organiser at the literary non-profit Sing Lit Station. His first novel, ‘Kappa Quartet’ (2016), was longlisted for the inaugural Epigram Books Fiction Prize and has since been released in both Singapore and the UK. He is presently working on his second novel with support from the National Arts Council.
